Job Description

Desktop Client Engineer Level 4 supports Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. As a Desktop Client Engineer supporting the Government, you will be trusted with engineering solutions to automate updating desktop builds and support thick and virtualized desktop clients.


Level 4:

  • Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.

  • Analyze system requirements and leads design and development activities

  • Guide users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.

  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology

  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

  • Develop system architecture and system design documentation.

  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans

  • Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and   deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

  • Communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives


In this role, a typical day may include

  • Researches, analyzes, designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems and peripherals

  • Coordinates system development to include design, modeling, security, integration, and formal testing.

  • Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in Microsoft Active Directory (AD) for end user devices which implement STIG and other device and account controls; including desktop/images.

  • Performs regular operating system and application laptop patching of Microsoft operating systems and applications.

  • Develops, implements, and documents formal configuration guides as needed.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

  • Evaluates vendor products, researches, and recommends hardware and software, coordinates installation

  • Manages anti-virus and malware detection, analysis, and remediation. This includes providing installation, configuration, and support for anti-virus and anti malware software tools.

  • Build and maintain systems documentation and standard operating procedures

  • Evaluates desktop/ software and hardware technologies and determines how they can best be effectively integrated into the customer's environment.

  • Manages Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools for the desktop environment, including installation, configuration, and support for DLP tools.


What you'll need:

  • 5+ years' experience with DoD systems

  • Experience with DoD vulnerability analysis and Industry Best Business Practices

  • Experience with deploying, configuring, and managing enterprise solutions for Windows 7 and 10

  • Experience with developing and enhancing operational procedures and new innovative solutions to address current and emerging IT challenges

  • Experience building images via task sequence method using Microsoft Deployment Tool (MDT)

  • Experience or strong understanding with VMware ESXi and VSphere

  • Experience with Remote Desktop Connection tool

  • Familiar with virtualization network on multiple classifications

  • Familiarity with Python, PowerShell, or Bash scripting

  • Familiarity with Citrix or VMware VDI architecture

  • Familiarity with deploying, configuring, and managing enterprise configuration and application management solutions using Microsoft SCCM

  • Ability to obtain an industry class certification (Windows 10/11, etc) in order to receive network privileged user accounts.

  • HS+12 Yrs

  • AD+10 Yrs

  • BD+8 Yrs

  • MD+6 Yrs

  • PHD+4 Yrs


Training and Certifications:

  • IAT Level II



Security Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI and the willingness to sit for a polygraph, if needed
