Job Description

Virtualization Engineer Level 4 you'll become a critical part in how we successfully solve our clients' biggest challenges, deliver on promise, and innovate the client's physical/virtual infrastructure for the future.  Our work depends on a Virtualization Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. As a Virtualization Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, along with others.


Duties may Include:

  • Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructures for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies

  • Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability

  • Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications

  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology

  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations

  • Develop system architecture and system design documentation

  • Interact with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

  • Exceptionally Complex, Inter-Discipline, Inter-Organizational

  • Perform tasks of senior level technicians, specialists, and/or managers not performed at Level 3 due to the size and/or complexity of the tasks.

  • May work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team.

  • Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.

  • Provides experts guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers.

  • Directs multiple contractor and subcontractors teams through project completion

  •  Responsible for managing very complex and/or high risk programs, and shall not serve in any other capability.

  • Supervise assigned technical staff, including subordinate managers. 

  • Establish state-of-the-art techniques for designing, developing, modifying and troubleshooting highly complex computer operating hardware system.

  • Design operating/hardware systems; formulate system concepts and architecture, specific requirements, and develop implementation approaches. 

  • Identify and direct resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues; subject matter expert on emerging technologies; direct the development of systems specifications and technical documentation. 

  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis.

  • Conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life-cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas

  • Engineering, Designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and full life-cycle management of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed in the large Enterprise environment

  • Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid

  • Interacting with Government regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts

  • Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize To Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions

  • Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning)

  • Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python

  • Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA))

  • Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects.

  • Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.

  • Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications:automating manual processes, optimizing delivery,  re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability

  • Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN.

  • Analyze user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications

  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations


Education and Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma and 12 years

  • Associate's Degree and 10 years

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years

  • Master's Degree and 6 years

  • PhD and 4 years

  • Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies

  • Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM)

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Clustering Failover

  • Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures

  • Expertise in the Windows 10 area – Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc

  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM

  • Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking

  • Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs


Training:

  • IAT Level 2

  • CWS-215 training: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Administration On-Premises and in Citrix Cloudo Azure

  • Managing Modern Desktops (MD-101) certificate

  • Windows 2019 Server Deployment certificate

  • Remote Desktop Services (RDS) certificate

  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (1Y0-312) certificate

  • VMware Certified Professional certification


Security Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance and the willingness to sit for a CI polygraph, if needed
